Sean Perry scooped the $640,000 top prize in the final event of the 2022 PokerGO Cup, with Daniel Negreanu denied back-to-back titles as Jeremy Ausmus took the overall leaderboard victory...
The finale to the 8-event series saw the players ponying up $50k, with 32 entries creating a $1.6million prizepool, the top five only getting paid.
Among the big names who would miss out on the money were event 7 winner, Ali Imsirovic, England’s leading moneywinner, Stephen Chidwick, and PokerGO Cup event 4 victor, Nick Petrangelo, while Jason Koon rounded off a miserable series by busting out on the bubble in 6th spot.
Daniel Negreanu, who had almost quit the series after playing some great poker and getting nowhere, was still in with a shout of defending his title, but Brock Wilson had other ideas...
The dream is dead! @RealKidPoker gave it his all but fell just short of winning the PokerGO Cup in back-to-back years.

Final table action is still underway with scenarios in play for Ausmus, Wilson, and Perry to hoist the Cup when it's all said and done! pic.twitter.com/1XqBb4UEcw
Negreanu tweeted out his profit/loss numbers to his fans: “Final Tally for @PokerGO Cup: Events played 8 Total rebuys 2 Buy ins $206,500 Payouts $462,000 Profit +$255,500 Started out 0-5 so I’ll take it.”
Down to four and those pocket tens wouldn’t save Nick Schulman from crashing out, Jeremy Ausmus going runner-runner to the flush to bust the popular commentator and pro.
The podium placings would also decide the destination of the overall trophy, Ausmus and Wilson still in the race but Sean Perry no longer able to win, even though he managed to end Ausmus’ series in 3rd spot.
Heads-up saw Brock Wilson try to add a win to his excellent runs so far, and if he could manage it he’d take the overall title from under Ausmus’ nose.
Unfortunately, he started out with a 7:1 chip deficit to Perry, and the final hand appeared quite quickly...

Perry celebrated the win and $640,000 first prize while Wilson proved himself to be one of the most consistent players of the highstakes series.
