One hundred lucky poker fans are being offered the chance to grab a piece of Phil Hellmuth’s action for his upcoming HighStakesDuel III battle with Tom Dwan, with the 15-time WSOP bracelet winner putting 5% of his $100k buy-in up for grabs…
With Hellmuth currently sitting on a 7-0 winning streak in the televised SNG-style heads-up match in the PokerGO studios, the chance to buy a small chunk of Phil’s action is quite rare.
If you fancy a bit of a sweat on Phil you’d be well-advised to grab your $50 share soon! So far almost 15% of the $5k worth being offered has been snapped up, with only 11 days still to go until the two legends face off in what is destined to be a dramatic old-school fight.
Dwan has stepped in by popular demand to see if he can topple the so-far-undisputed king of the HSD hill, Hellmuth having already downed Antonio “The Magician” Esfandiari and Daniel Negreanu, both with clean-sweep 3-0 scorelines.
Winning $350k apiece from these battles, Phil then took down Fox sports presenter Nick Wright in round 1 of High Stakes Duel III, pocketing another $50k. Unable to justify ponying up double that amount for round 2, Wright bowed out and Dwan took his place…
Of course, Phil will secretly be delighted at gaining a chance to avenge an old and painful “injustice” – Dwan knocking Hellmuth out of the 2008 National Heads-Up Poker Championship with a cruel bad beat.
Dwan cracked Hellmuth’s aces with a pair of tens, and then had to face the full Poker Brat treatment, Phil berating “Durrrr” for how terribly the younger man had just played.
“We’ll see if you’re around in five years,” said Hellmuth and now, 13 years later, we’ll see if Dwan still has what it takes to Phil’s “white magic”
The match is scheduled for August 25th at 8pm, the venue PokerGO’s studio in the Aria. Naturally, we’ll have all the best of the action and the expected pre-match “verbals” right here on HighStakesDB.
