European Poker Tour Prague has been postponed by PokerStars and King's Casino to an unspecified date next year.
Following the WSOPE, the European Poker Tour (EPT) festival was supposed to run as scheduled at King's Casino at the Hilton Prague from December 8 to December 20. PokerStars made this decision in light of new regulations imposed by the Czech Republic government.
Due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the country, a trend experienced in most European countries, the Czech government was forced to impose new restrictions.
However, the event organisers were optimistic that the current COVID limitations in the Czech Republic would not impact their schedule. On Thursday, King's Casino stated that the WSOPE and EPT Prague would continue as planned even though the government declared a state of emergency owing to an increase in covid cases.
Government Directive
More than 25,000 coronavirus cases were reported on Wednesday, November 24. The Czech Republic's government announced a State of Emergency on Thursday, November 25, responding to the increasing coronavirus infections.Sports, cultural and educational activities will be limited to 1,000 people, while restaurants, bars, and casinos will be closed at 10 p.m.
Hello Pierre-Jean. We are currently reviewing the ongoing situation in the Czech Republic and will be following the government’s guidance regarding EPT Prague. We will provide all players with a full update as soon as we know more. Many thanks!

PokerStars management assessed the issue quickly and, after consulting with their counterparts at King's, they determined that postponing the tournament was the best course of action.
Players who had already paid the buy-in for the event or earned an EPT Prague package can request a refund by emailing PokerStars Live (live@pokerstarslive.com). The option of deferring payments and packages till a later date may also be available in this case.
In September 2021, PokerStars announced that the European Poker Tour would return to Prague after a two-year absence. Poker fans of this lengthy series will have to be patient and wait for next year, and maybe the event will finally make a comeback.
