The all-time bad beat jackpot record has fallen once again at the Playground Poker Club in Quebec, Canada, after a punter shattered the previous record from June 2022, collecting CAD $2,590,185 ($1,900,000).

Quads No good!

The flop came down Td Th 8d and Hoan Truong was holding black tens, no doubt assuming the pot would soon be heading in his direction—and, in fact, even if he did that wouldn’t be a problem given the huge jackpot awaiting him.

And Marc Andre Ouellon was indeed drawing to a straight flush with 6d9d which dropped in on the turn when the 7d was flipped over. Then, just to intensify Truong’s wait, the money didn’t actually go in until the 2d river was dealt, but the pair soon realised they had set off the jackpot and celebrated wildly.

As the loser of the hand, Truong customarily banked the biggest share of the jackpot—CAD $984,270. Ouellon collected half that amount—CAD $492,135. Everybody else at the table won CAD $82,003 which was a nice payday for essentially turning up!

The Playground Poker Club then reseeded the jackpot at $700,863.

This record-breaker beat the previous record for poker bad beat jackpots that was also set at the Playground Poker Club. Incredibly, that hand was almost identical with pocket tens making quads and getting outdrawn by a straight flush.

And another seven-figure bad beat jackpot triggered later in 2022 down at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, USA. A $1.2 million payout was won after quad aces lost to a royal flush.
