Like waiting for buses only for two to come along at the same time, Tom Dwan ended the Triton Poker Madrid SHR series on a high by bagging his second title of the week with a Short Deck Turbo win worth €336,000!

Dwan was among 33 entries to the series finisher, a €30k buy-in Short Deck Ante-only Turbo tournament that would pay the top six from a €990,000 prizepool.

The US legend had bagged his first-ever Triton win – and indeed tournament victory ever! – in the €25k PLO, and Paul Phua had done similarly back in event 2, but this time it was the Triton Poker co-founder who got snagged on the money bubble.

Chris Brewer fell next, the young US pro also taking down a title earlier in the 13-tournament series at the Casino Gran Via, and he was followed by Paul Phua’s co-founder, Richard Yong, who fell to Dwan’s aces.

The 36-card variant makes for fast and frantic action at times, and food at the table instead of a dinner break – Bento boxes according to the Triton crew – allowed that to continue.

Danny Tang also fell to Dwan, picking up €114,000 for his 5th cash of the series, and then Ivan Leow departed in 3rd for €148,500, leaving Dwan and Elton Tsang to fight it out for the win.

It all came down to two massive hands, both coolers and both going against Tsang...

With Dwan’s fellow Triton Poker ambassador, Jason Koon, closing out event 13 at the exact same time, they exchanged words, if not titles...

“I wanted that one. You want to swap!?!” Dwan shouted to newly-crowned 4-time Triton winner Koon, who replied: “Bro, a win’s a win. You went from no Triton wins to two.”

That concludes our coverage from Triton Poker Madrid, but we’ll soon be bringing you all the best of the highroller action as the action moves from Spain to Italy and the 8-tournament PokerGO Tour series from the Casino di Venezia, in Venice.
