Phil Ivey was denied his second SHRB Europe title in just 4 days when he was defeated heads-up by Selahaddin Bedir in the $50k NLHE event 4, both players now having a win and runner-up spot to their names!
As we reported earlier in the week, Ivey scooped the opening event of the 9-tournament series, winning the $25k buy-in Short Deck event 1 for a $408,000 payday.
Turkish highstakes pro Bedir shone in event two, losing out heads-up to Johan Guilbert but pocketing $364,500 in the process.
Both Ivey and Bedir were among the 52 entries as the buy-ins were hiked to the $50k level for event 4, an NLHE affair that saw a prizepool of $2.6million, with 7 spots paid.
With many of the world’s leading players showing up at the Merit Royal Hotel & Casino, in Kyrenia, Cyprus for the SHRB Europe, the list of those who failed to cash was impressive enough.
Mikita Badziakouski, Timothy Adams, Erik Seidel, Michael Addamo were joined by yesterday’s event 3 Short Deck victor, Tony G, in busting short of the money, with Russia’s Artur Martirosian bubbling the paid spots.
Day two saw Danny Tang in the money for the second day running, picking up $130,000 for 7th spot, followed to the rail by Seth Davies, Albert Daher and Jake Schindler, the latter losing out in a classic race...

That left Ivey, Bedir and Saman Nakhjavani chasing the title and a pot of more than $1.7million, and it was Bedir who delivered another crushing blow.

Nakhjavani was out in 3rd for $364.000 to add to the $100k plus change he won with a 7th place finish in event 2.
Ivey was looking for title number two and Bedir to improve on his runner-up spot, and only one man could fulfil their hopes, and Bedir stepped up to the plate as Ivey’s stack dwindled.
