Australia’s Michael Addamo bagged his second Triton title in a week last night by taking down the €75k NLHE title, picking up €1,152,086 after a heads-up deal with England’s Stephen Chidwick...

Addamo opened the show in Madrid’s Casino Gran Via last week by scooping the Triton Series Opener for €478k, and he was back at it in event 7, a €75k buy-in NLHE 8-handed tournament.

As always, first order on a pro’s list is always to hit the money and the final table of 8 would be the only ones taking home a paycheck. Among those missing out were Phil Ivey, Ike Haxton and Steve O’Dwyer, as well as the unfortunate bubble boy, Fedor Holz, coolered to the rail in 9th.

Kings weren’t so lucky for England’s ben heath, cracked by Seth Davies’ big slick to send him out in 8th and he was followed by Tony G and Jason Koon, both at the hands of Addamo.

That meant shortstack Laszlo Bujtas laddered up to a very healthy €387,500 in 5th, with Daniel Dvoress taking €500,500 in 4th. The three-way battle lasted a good while, but eventually Davies bowed out as the blinds took their toll.

Heads-up between Chidwick and Addamo saw the Englishman’s 5-1 chip lead quickly whittled back, the stacks now so short that a random flip would prove super-expensive, so a deal was agreed.

Some ICM number-crunching gave Chidwick €1,291,414 to Addamo’s €1,152,086, but it was the Aussie who would take the trophy and the Player of the Series leaderboard points...

“I have to always acknowledge that to win this much you have to get incredibly lucky,” Addamo told Ali Nejad afterwards. “So I think there’s a lot of luck involved. Obviously some skill as well, but winning the all-ins.”

“It was a super tough table, a lot of great players,” Addamo added. “Three handed, with a lot of all-ins going back and forward, it was hard to know what was going to happen. It’s great to get the win from there.”

Addamo can now boast six 7-figure cashes in the past year, the Aussie sensation closing in on the $20million career tournament cashes milestone.
