David Docherty has taken down the 2023 Irish Poker Open Main Event for €365,000. The Scot qualified online to take his seat and outlasted the 2,491 entry field for the biggest score of his career.

Docherty booked his seat in the popular event after winning a €109 satellite tournament on PokerStars and wrote his name into Irish Poker Open history after defeating the home boy Declan Rice who banked €228,700.

He wasn’t the only qualifier in the IPO Main Event, however, because HighStakes sent three players of its own to Dublin. Spaniard Jon “aduriz20” Gomez Samperio put in a stellar performance to finish in 20th place for €12,500 after winning his seat on HighStakes alongside Anthony “ThunderballsAK” Thunder and Giorgos “Onbidea” Loukas, who also played well but failed to cash.
