We've seen Phil Hellmuth get annoyed by the play of others countless times over the years, his legendary blow-ups providing a chuckle or two for players and fans alike.

The Poker Brat may not have blown up per his usual fashion when he was bested by Tom Marchese at the 2017 Poker Masters, but you know he was seething inside after folding the winning hand to a three-high bluff.

The Hand

The scene was the final table in Event #2, $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em. Five players remained with $900K up top.

The blind level was 20,000/40,000 and Hellmuth open-raised from the cut-off to 85,000 holding the Qh-Js. Fedor Holz called from the small blind with the card reader picking up only the 7d in his hand. Tom Marchese also called from the BB with his suited 3-2 in clubs.

The flop of 6c-Kd-Jc gave Hellmuth middle pair, while Marchese had a flush draw with two streets yet to come. Checks all the way around kept the pot at 285,000.

The 4d on the turn gave Marchese a gutshot in addition to his flush draw, prompting a 165,000 bet from the New Jersey native. Holz folded his hand, followed by a call from Hellmuth, increasing the pot to 615,000.

The river produced the 8h, missing the draws of Marchese, but not missing his ability to put one over on the Poker Brat. He bet 425,000 and it was decision time for Hellmuth, with his chip stack of 495,000.

An eventual fold from Phil resulted in Marchese joyfully turning over his three-high and Hellmuth's blood began to boil.

“I wish I can play with you guys everyday,” the Poker Brat said, angry that he fell for the bluff.

“We wish the same," came the reply of Fedor Holz.
