Daniel Negreanu has analysed Magnus Carlsen’s amazing hand from the Norwegian Poker Championship. The chess world champion is a global ambassador for Unibet and enjoys a spot of poker when he has the time, impressing fans massively with his performance in this latest event where he finished 25th out of 1050 players.
The hand in question was an impressive example of turning a made hand into a bluff that many amateur players wouldn’t even consider.
With blinds at 2,500/5,000 +5,000 ante Carlsen had 288 big blinds to play with and he wakes up with pocket aces. Unfortunately, he didn’t get the flop he wanted when the board came down semi-connected and monotone.
The turn put a four-flush out there with Carlsen’s aces now almost worthless. Now, many a player would take the passive route and try to see a free/cheap showdown and find out if their hand is still best; not Magnus Carlsen. He took the aggressive line and turned his pocket aces into a bluff and picked up a nice sized pot as his reward.
Thanks for the kind words and the analysis @RealKidPoker🎯

Now it’s definitely my turn to analyse a chess game of yours! https://t.co/RqIa1uRcgb
Carlsen watched Negreanu’s review of the hand and indicated that he might analyse one of the Canadian’s chess games as a thank you.
