ACR pro Jonathan “Apestyles” Van Fleet has been left flummoxed last week after his YouTube account was somehow deleted, years of work and 10,000 subscribers disappearing into a black hole...
To make matters worse, van Fleet – who has averaged $1million in tournament winnings per year in a career spanning more than 2 decades – has had little to no help from YouTube in fixing the serious issue.
YouTubers can find their channels deleted for various reasons, issues such as tag stuffing, spamming, copyright misuse and abuse, and many others all likely to end up with your account closed.
However, it appears that whatever van Fleet has done, neither he nor anyone so far at YouTube knows what it is.
Van Fleet tweeted: “I'm pretty bummed. Got a message from @TeamYouTube that made it pretty clear that they don't know what's going on with my YouTube channel nor have they spent much time looking into it. Losing years’ worth of work really sucks. Halp!”
Poker writer Jennifer Newell took up arms to help Van Fleet, tweeting: “So... someone can build an entire business around @YouTube, it disappears, and no one can explain why. Everyone with a @YouTube channel should be clamoring for answers here.”
Hopefully the publicity surrounding his account deletion can spark some kind of investigation at YouTube HQ to find out whether he was hacked or if it is something less nefarious and more easily fixable.
In more positive news, Van Fleet is currently up for nomination in the GPI Best Streamer category and if you don’t know who he is, here’s the perfect time to find out...
