Ty Stewart, the Executive Director of SWOP, has stated that the 2021 WSOP will be the “real deal” and we can all prepare for a full house. We are sure to find this season to be a memorable one where all players can reunite and celebrate, with new tournaments as “The Festival” held at Bratislava, among many other new additions to the poker yearly calendar.
A plethora of WSOP favorites will return in addition to several new and exciting tournaments.
Noteworthy New Additions
The press release covering the WSOP’s schedule announcement drew attention to nine ‘new and noteworthy’ aspects. Three are highlighted below.
- The Reunion October 1st - No-limit opening weekend hold ‘em event with three starting flights, an affordable $500 buy-in and a multi-million dollar prize pool.
- Flip and Go October 10th - Players will be all-in on the first hand. Three cards are dealt with players having a choice of which two to play. The entire table will play out a flip with only one player moving on to being in the money. From there on out, the tournament will play out more traditionally.
- True Freezeout Oct 6,13, 18, 21 and 24. An increase in ‘freezeout’ events will be offered at every popular buyout level from $500 to $5000.
If watching the WSOP tournament makes your fingers itch, but you don’t find yourself anywhere near the Rio, there’s still a way for you to enjoy the thrill of real money poker games.
