Mystery bounty tournaments are not the same as regular PKO events. In a regular bounty tourney, you receive a bounty payment each time you knock out an opponent with half of it going to you and the other half added to your own bounty.
However, in a mystery bounty, bounties are only paid in the latter phase, with each bounty reward being randomly drawn. This changes the strategy significantly as each win is potentially huge compared to the buy-in.
Phase 1:
At the start of the event. The prize pool is divided equally between the regular prize pool for where players finish and the bounty pool. All you need to consider at this stage is survival and keep hold of your chips while taking advantage of your opponents in low risk spots.Players can play as many Day 1 flights as they wish and each stack will be added to your Day 2 starting stack.
Phase 2:
Day 2 is where the bounties are set and players start winning big prizes for knocking out their opponents. The biggest prizes can come at any time, including your first knockout of the event. So, make sure to build up a huge stack during Day 1 so that you are covering as many opponents as possible when Day 2 arrives.
Also, don’t forget that multiple eliminations means multiple bounty draws. Some huge prizes are up for grabs when the stacks get short.
