Most of you will have heard of online poker’s SCOOP series, but now it’s time for the online fantasy football version, and 180 Vita have teamed up with FanTeam just in time for the launch of SCOFF, the €500,000 GTD Spring Championship of Online Fantasy Football.
FanTeam are Europe's largest fantasy sports provider and their two week-long fantasy football extravaganza gives players the chance to win huge prizes by picking a team and cheering them on to victory.
Running over gameweeks 37 & 38 of the English Premier League season, the SCOFF has a massive €500,000 prize pool, with the winner walking off with a life-changing €100,000.
The competition proper kicks off on Tuesday, May 18 at 18:00 BST and the two-week contest gives you two separate chances to win, changing your team halfway through or sticking with them to the bitter (or hopefully very sweet!) end.
The final is an €1,100 buy-in affair, but naturally – as with poker – you can grab your ‘seat’ on the cheap, and here’s how...
SCOFF Step1
For a measly €2.70 buy-in you can win your €55 ticket into Step 2, and you don’t have to stick to football for this stage – pick other sports and even eSports if that’s your main area of expertise or interest.SCOFF Step2
The €55 direct entry (or use the ticket you won in Step 1) sets you up to win your way to the SCOFF final stage, tickets worth €1,100 on the line. You’ll also find €11 direct entry satellites available in the FanTeam lobby.Poker players will know fine well how a sattie entry can be turned into riches, but what about the fantasy sports version?
Well, the WCOFF (World Championship of Online Fantasy Football) witnessed something very familiar, when “fscottl” (yep, online nicknames and usernames are normal in fantasy sports too!) turned a €2 buy-in into a first prize worth a massive €30,000.
Even those with a pro poker background are finding fantasy sports to be a fertile hunting ground, with Aaron “AEJones” Jones one of the most familiar names to have crossed over and made it big.
Fantasy sports pros are raking in as much as €200,000 every year, and with prizepools consistently on the rise so are payouts.
One recent famous case saw a player called “top” live up to his name, making a whopping €128,000 in their first year having only signed up to FanTeam for a free ticket!
FanTeam offer more than 50 different leagues & sports, and alongside football they offer everything from basketball to MMA to motorsports, and eSports like CS:GO.
With more than 700 tournaments running, with 14 top leagues, there are £1.69million in prizes up for grabs making FanTeam by far the largest daily fantasy tournaments in Europe.
The upcoming SCOFF could be the perfect kick-off to a new online hobby, or even career, so check out how to get yourself in on the action here.
