The New York Jets are getting used to life after Robert Saleh but their hopes of ending a lengthy postseason drought seem to be fading fast. Their latest defeat, a 37-15 defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers, is one that star quarterback has taken firmly on the chin.
The four-time NFL MVP, who missed all of last season having suffered an Achilles injury in his debut game as a Jets player, has shown glimpses of his obvious talent but is struggling to make a consistent impact and it’s costing the MetLife Stadium franchise in a big way.
Fans who feel that the Jets could still turn things around may want to place a wager on that assumption, in which case these sportsbook promotions will come in very handy indeed, helping to make your bet closer to being completely risk-free. You would have to assume that the odds on such a turnaround would be huge, not least because the Jets are now 2-5 for the season.
After defeating the New England Patriots in impressive fashion, winning 24-3, things looked just dandy for the Jets, as they sat 2-1 before a series of losses, first cost Saleh his job before his interim replacement Jeff Ulbrich presided over further back-to-back defeats which seemingly all but ended their season.
They now sit third in the AFC East, with only 1-6 Patriots beneath them and 40-year-old veteran Rodgers owned up to his own shortcomings after their big loss at the Acisure Stadium.
"I gotta play better. That's the key. I got to play better.
"Find a way to run the ball better, so we can actually pass. I thought did some nice things in the passing game. Breece obviously had a couple of really nice ones. Spread the ball around Tae (Davante Adams), G (Garrett Wilson) and Allen (Lazard). Mike (Williams) had a nice conversion, but we got to run the ball better, and I got to play better."
Next up for the Jets is another game with the Patriots and it’s most definitely now a must-win clash for Rodgers and his teammates.
Sadly for Ulbrich, there is a chance that Rodgers may miss that game as he is said to be suffering with a hamstring injury.
“Something that kinda flared up this past game. They’re gonna assess it all week long, he’s gonna treat his butt off like he always does and don’t anticipate this affecting him in playing.” Ulbrich reported.
With Devante Adams on board, there is no doubt a hope that Rodgers can be a more energized presence on the field but obviously he needs his teammates to step up. It is not a one-man-show, even though at times it does seem that way.
The last time the Jets made it to the postseason was in 2010 and the chances of doing so again in 2024 are very slim indeed, a defeat to the Patriots would all but end their chances, and would also see them drop to the foot of the division.
