ACR’s $5million GTD Venom PKO Just Days Away!

The spotlight is on Americas CardRoom this week as the $5million GTD Venom PKO gets set to kick off, the fifth running of the monster progressive knockout event looking likely to break records...

Thursday October 20th sees the first of four opening flights in the $2,650 buy-in tournament, where unlike normal KO events, half of the bounty gets added to your own head whenever you send someone to the rail.

Huge payouts

That PKO bounty came to $311,180 for “oneplusone” back in May last time the Venom PKO played out, with the Moroccan taking down the title along with a $503,318 split of the top two spots. That amounted to an incredible $814,498 total payday, from a monster $7.18million prizepool.

This month’s version of the Venom PKO tournament could see even more money up for grabs, with 1000 satellite-entry seats available to win and numerous other ways to bag a starting stack.

In it to Win It

Most players will be looking to maximise their bankroll by getting into the $5million GTD Main Event on the cheap, and here’s how you can join them...

Direct entry satellites

For $32 you can win your way into the flagship PKO event directly, satellites a straightforward entry route and running daily.

Earn your $2,650 Venom PKO seat for free. Daily freerolls lead to Satellites and Mega Satellites, and eventually a Venom PKO seat.

Venom PKO Blitz Steps

Win your $2,650 seat through Venom PKO Blitz Steps.

If this concept is new to you, there are 9 Venom PKO Blitz Step levels with buy-ins starting at just 11 cents.

You move up each level by amassing 5,000 chips. Complete all the steps and you've got yourself a $2,650 Venom PKO Ticket.

Note: You don’t have to start at the bottom, you can buy-in directly at any level along the way.

Venom PKO On Demand Step and Skip Tournaments

ACR’s On-Demand Steps give you a shot to parlay as little as $0 into a $2,650 seat by climbing the ladder, and you can buy-in at any price point tier along the way.

These tourneys are registering in the client 24/7 under the VENOM tab. As soon as the required minimum of players register, off you go on the road to Venom $million

There are also Skip Tournaments that allow you to jump one or more of the steps on the road to winning a $2,650 Venom PKO seat.

$5million GTD Venom PKO Day 1 flights:

Thursday October 20th is the official start day for the $5 Million Venom PKO opening flights, and if you want to buy-in directly you have four day 1s to choose from:

  • Oct. 20th 1:05 p.m. ET (late reg. closes at 7:05 p.m.)
  • Oct. 23rd 1:05 p.m. ET (late reg. closes at 7:05 p.m.)
  • Oct. 27th 1:05 p.m. ET (late reg. closes at 7:05 p.m.)
  • Oct. 30th 1:05 p.m. ET (late reg. closes at 7:05 p.m.)

What Is A PKO Tournament?

A PKO (Progressive KnockOut) tournament is just a clever and exciting variation on a standard bounty tournament.

Standard KO/Bounty events see half the buy-in you pay going to the main prizepool, and half to the Bounty fund. So, if your buy-in is $20, that’s $10 to each.

With a $20 PKO tournament, however, although the $10 to each prizepool is the same, whenever you KO someone, half of the $10 bounty – $5 – goes to you as a prize, and the other $5 gets added to the bounty on your head!

As we saw in the May Venom PKO mentioned above, the bounties can quickly add up to massive amounts, sometimes even worth more than the prizepool jump.
