The 2023 WSOP Main Event is down to its final stages, with only 15 players remaining from the record-breaking field of 10,043 participants. The competition is now heating up as players vie for the lion’s share of the massive $93,399,900 prize pool.
Only 15 Players Left in 2023 WSOP Main Event
Spaniard Juan Maceiras has fought his way to the top of the leaderboard with 135 big blinds, more than double what fifth place sits with. While not a player regularly seen at the sharp end of major events, Maceiras has had previous success in live tournaments. Between 2007 to 2011, he made the final table in three EPT main events. His aggressive play and ability to win key pots have put him in a strong position to take home the most coveted WSOP title.
In third place with 94 big blinds is Germany's Jan-Peter Jachtmann, a WSOP bracelet winner who triumphed in the 2012 Event 39: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship, earning a career-best score of $661,000.
Another notable player in the mix is British pro Toby Lewis, who has been making headlines with his impressive play. Lewis is an extremely strong player with more than $8 million in live tournament winnings. Although yet to win his first WSOP bracelet, the Brit has taken down an EPT main event in the past and also won the 2018 Aussie Million Main Event.
As the remaining players battle it out for the prestigious WSOP Main Event title, the tension is palpable. With millions of dollars at stake and the chance to etch their names in poker history, these competitors will undoubtedly be bringing their best to the table.
