The biggest buy-in tournament of the 2022 PokerStars UKIPT Dublin festival, the €2,200 High Roller, crowned William Kassouf as the winner.

The tourney attracted 53 players and generated a prize pool of €102,820 ($109,950). After the rake, Kassouf's share of the pot was €33,410 ($35,726) for first place.

Kassouf is a polarizing figure, and his antics have not helped him gain popularity in the poker community. Many would argue that they were numerous deserving finishers at the final table. Nevertheless, Lady Luck does not heed widespread desire.

After elimination on Day 1, the 53 players were reduced to a final table of nine. Terry Jordan re-bought six times but never advanced above 18th place with just seven slots paid. Leon Campbell, Kully Sidhu, Chris Dowling, and final table bubble guy Sergejus Jakovlevas were among those who donated to the prize pool but received nothing in return.

Final Table Play

Kassouf had a massive chip stack with just nine players left and was the chip leader. His 480,500 stack held the pursuing group at bay, while Niall Farrell came in last with 67,500 chips, while the average stack was 176,667.

Dara O'Kearney, an Irish icon, was the first High Roller to place in the money. O'Kearney received a €5,400 reward for finishing seventh. Seamus Cahill was ousted in sixth place for €6,940, with Jason Tompkins, a player highly regarded by O'Kearney, busting in fifth place for €8,740, ensuring a non-Irish winner.

David Docherty, the winner of the GUKPT Luton event, finished his tournament in fourth place, earning €11,310 in the process. It was the first score in the event to reach five figures. Niall Farrell, a fellow Scotsman who previously won the Triple Crown, made a remarkable turnaround from having the smallest stack to finishing in third place, which earned him €14,910.

A heads-up battle between Tsz Tin Chevan of Hong Kong ensued. Kassouf overcame his last opponent and emerged victorious earning €33,410, leaving Tin Chevan with a €22,110 runners-up prize.

Kassouf alludes to the €10,300 High Roller tournament at the 2016 EPT Prague festival in his jubilant post. So that he could celebrate his birthday with a triumph and a trophy, Kassouf accepted a deal that gave him €532,500 compared to Serda's €719,000.
