It’s only four months since the end of the 2024 World Series of Poker and a matter of weeks since the WSOP Europe ended but now the qualification run for the 2024 WSOP is ready to get going in earnest.

More than 130 prestigious gold bracelets will be up for grabs — 90+ in Las Vegas and another 30+ in the WSOP Online series.

The live series kicks off at the end of May, its traditional start date, with the online series starting on June 1, 2024.

Will More Records Get Broken in 2024?

After the poker boom years ended, we never thought we would see the game return to the level it is at today. But last year was a record-breaking effort which saw the series reach new heights.

The turnout for the whole series created a record amount of prize money handed out — a whopping $425 million fought over by 250,000+ players.

The Main Event alone had a $93 million prize pool, and the eventual winner, Daniel Weinman, walked away with $12,100,000, beating the previous record of $12,000,000 won by Jamie Gold in 2006.

The 2023 WSOP Online brought in $17 million with more than 29,000 players taking part.

What Are We Expecting at the 2024 WSOP?

The live action will take place at The Horseshoe Casino and Paris Casino in Las Vegas again after making its debut there in 2023. This is a notable improvement from the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino which was in dire need of an upgrade and seeing many complaints every year.

One welcome addition to the tournament schedule in recent months has been the mystery bounty format.

These are just like a standard PKO except you don’t know how much the bounty is worth until you draw it at random after the event is finished. We reckon we will see more of these during the 2024 series.

PokerGO will once again be taking care of the live-stream footage and we expect Daniel Negreanu to continue providing us with a behind the scenes look into his days as the series unfolds.
