Timothy Adams has won the Triton Poker London Main Event, defeating France’s Jean Norel Thorel heads-up to claim the $4,185,000 first place prize.
The Canadian crusher is now the third man to have won a pair of Triton Poker main events after also winning in Jeju, South Korea back in 2019.
The day started with Dan “Jungleman” Cates leading the field but it was never going to be straightforward given how tough the lineup was.
Doug Polk was the first player heading to the rail after slamming his pocket eights into the tens of Ike Haxton.
Before long, the field was down to the last five players out of the 151 who entered. Jean Norel Thorel found himself looking at Stephen Chidwick, Ike Haxton, Jungleman, and Timothy Adams as his tablemates—imagine how that would feel.
But it was all looking good for the Frenchman, despite the toughness of his opponents, and then it all went wrong. Thorel—better known as JNT in poker circles—got pocket nines in against the eights of Adams only for the river to bring a third eight.
“I’m just lost for words because that was insane that I won this one. It was a battle heads up. Jean Noel, hats off to him. He is an insane competitor, super tough to play against.”
“When we got it in it was a bit of a cooler. I thought that would be it for me. I couldn’t believe it when I smashed the eight on the river.”
