Businessman Seth Gottlieb has won the Triton Poker London $25k PLO event for $511,000 after overcoming a tough field of 77 entries. The startup founder from New Jersey, USA, is a newcomer to the four-card variant but settled in quickly to chalk up the result of his poker career.
The $250k buy-in Luxon Invitational saw many VIPs invited to the series. Businessmen from around the world with plenty of expendable wealth coming to sit shoulder to shoulder with the world’s best poker players.
And this is the beauty of poker—anything can happen on any given day. VIP is now the polite way to indicate that a player is a fish in that particular field, but quite often, the tables are turned and the amateur has their day in the sun.
“It feels amazing. I care a lot more about the trophy than the money. Triton is amazing. I love Triton. Businessmen like me can have a lot of fun and maybe win some money. It’s the best series in the world.”
Gottlieb has made four cashes at the Triton Poker London series, to add to the one he got for finishing 11th in the $100k Triton Poker Vietnam Main Event earlier this year.
The climax of this event saw Gottlieb take on legend Daniel Dvoress heads-up with a pretty much even start in chips. It didn’t take long before there was a decisive hand that saw all the chips go in the middle with Gottlieb having trips and Dvoress two pair with a straight draw.
Another seven came on the river to give Gottlieb quads and Dvoress was crippled, never managing to recover.
