Sean Winter emerged victorious in the concluding episode of the 2021 US Poker Open, taking down the $50k buy-in Main Event for a $756,000 with a heads-up defeat of Stephen Chidwick...
The twelfth and final event on the schedule attracted 42 entries, reduced to just six for yesterday’s final table with everyone assured of $105k, and the destination of the Golden Eagle trophy and $50k also on the line.
That leaderboard race was decided when Sam Soverel bust in fifth place (Bill Klein having already departed) which meant David Peters had made it back-to-Back USPO overall titles, three victories from 12 tournaments a remarkable showing.
Jonathan Little and Jason Koon were still in the mix with Winters and Chidwick, and it was the popular author and YouTuber who fell next, though he was far from unhappy at his deep run...
Jason Koon has been noticeable by his absence during the end stages of this year’s USPO, but he finished the series with a creditable 3rd place and $336,000, unable to catch up with Winter’s pocket kings in his final hand.
Heads-up and there was a $¼million difference between 1st and 2nd, and it was Sean Winter who would take the lion’s share, the final hand starting out fairly innocuous but ending with an all-in and call on the river...
