Fans of the show High Stakes Poker are in for a treat next week as Doug Polk, Matt Berkey, Nik “Airball” Arcot and Eric Persson clash in a must-watch livestreamed cash game show. Jennifer Tilly, Rob Yong, and Bill Klein round out the potentially explosive table.
Nick Schulman’s announcement pointed out the potential for fireworks in the PokerGO production scheduled for April 27th: “Airball…most likely to start a fight. And we got Doug Polk coming down, beefing with Berkey.”
That’s a reference to the ongoing Twitter spat that has Solve4Why founder Berkey currently battling out a Grudge Match with HCL reg Arcot, with Polk prodding and poking from the sidelines.
With no love lost between any of the parties involved, outspoken Upswing Poker founder Polk tweeted his reasons for disliking Berkey.
“There seems to be a lot of confusion about why I dislike Berkey. Berkey lied about my business on his podcast in attempt to cause damage to the cardroom, employees, and the Texas poker market. I will defend my people.”
Polk was also quick to share Maverick Gaming CEO Persson’s dig at Berkey, which involves a $25k side-bet on whoever can stack Berkey first...
Persson, as many will recall, was the man who KO’ed Phil Hellmuth in the opening round of the PokerGO Heads-up Showdown last year.
That match was certainly not for the faint-hearted as the Poker Brat got a taste of his own medicine, Persson calling him a “bitch” among other interesting names. Then there was the infamous double-finger salute...
Hellmuth isn’t in the HSP line-up for later this month, but that’s unlikely to prevent potential bloodshed, chaos and meltdowns, despite Schulman’s hopes otherwise.
“Maybe everybody gets along, I’m not trying to put fuel on the fire. Berkey, Polk, and Airball. Persson. Tilly, Klein, and Yong in the lion’s den…let’s go,” tweeted the pro/commentator.
The PokerGO game announcement comes just days after the potential line-up for Hustler Casino Live-run “Million Dollar Game” was revealed.
With a $1million minimum buy-in, newly-branded WPT Global ambassador Ethan “Rampage” Yau, man-of-the-moment Nik “Airball” Arcot, Door Dash founder Stanley Tang, and billionaire Chamath Palihapitiya are among the 12 confirmed names.
Also included are Maverick gaming CEO Eric Persson, and Dusk Till Dawn casino boss Rob Yong, both featuring in the HSP game and neither man a stranger to the nosebleed stakes.
