Phil Ivey has taken down the Triton Poker London $60K NL Hold’em turbo event for $1,007,000. The American outlasted a field of 61 entries to add his fourth Triton title to his resumé, further cementing his status as the G.O.A.T.
Winning one of these Triton events is no small deal when you look at the level of the average player in the field. And Ivey was probably stoked to get back to winning ways after having a distinctly average summer in Las Vegas at the World series of Poker. He only managed three cashes, but at least two of those ended up being final tables.
Now he’s had three cashes in about a week, with all being final tables, including a win and runner up spot to top it off.
Cary Katz was the man tasked with denying Ivey his winners prize but it proved too much for the man who brought us PokerGO. After starting heads-up play with a 3-1 chips disadvantage, he did at least get his stack in good but lady luck wasn’t smiling.
Ivey’s Qd7h flopped another couple of queens to outdrag Katz’s AhKc and then it was all over.
