Ole Schemion has won the Triton Poker Super High Roller London for $1.35 million, topping a field of 112 entries. Surprisingly, the 30-year-old German is playing at his first Triton event, claiming he has just been plain lazy during the last few years.
After taking down the event, Schemion explained to reporters: “I was a bit lazy the last few years. I didn’t want to play so much. I was thinking of coming this year to Cyprus and Vietnam, but I didn’t make it. But here I am.”
This result could mark the start of a resurgence in Schemion’s career. Besides playing plenty of WSOP Online events, he hasn’t been as busy as one might expect a player with more than $18 million in live tournament earnings to have been.
After arriving in London at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, Schemion quickly busted without cashing from his first three tournaments, but now this has happened and it is the third largest cash of Schemion’s career. It also happened against top notch opposition—Sam Grafton, Linus Loeliger, Isaac Haxton, Mikita Badziakouski, Erik Seidel, and Lucas Greenwood.
