Nick Petrangelo emerged victorious in Stairway To Millions Event #8: $100,000 No-Limit Hold 'em for $1,026,000.This win comes only one day after taking down Event #7: $50,000.00 No-Limit Hold 'em for $567,000.

He had an incredible performance in the Stairway To Millions series; Petrangelo cashed four times, winning over $1,600,000 throughout the series, and won back-to-back titles within 24 hours. Becoming the second player to win consecutive titles after Chance Kornuth won Events #2 and #3 last week.

Petrangelo made three consecutive final tables to wrap up the first Stairway to Millions, a PokerGO series at the Aria Resort and Casino. This victory improves his live career earnings to $23,072,033.

Back-to-Back Champ

After cashing in Event #7, Petrangelo automatically qualified into Event #8. The high roller event attracted 19 entrants and generated a $1,900,000 prize pool. All players who reached the money, in any event, were automatically registered for the subsequent event.

Alex Foxen was eliminated in fourth place and broke the tournament money bubble after his pocket nines ran into Petrangelo's king-jack. A king on the river gave Petrangelo the top pair.

Sean Perry was the next in line after he was knocked out of the event in third place by David Peters; Perry took home $304,000 for his efforts.

After Perry's elimination, a heads-up battle began between Petrangelo and Peters, with Peters holding 2,115,000 chips to Petrangelo's 1,685,000. It did not take long before Petrangelo regained the lead, and after back and forth action, Petrangelo won the tourney after making a flush on the turn to win his second title in a row. Peters earned $570,000 for his runner-up finish.

"Confidence in poker is a huge thing," Petrangelo told PokerGo reporters. "It's a real thing because oftentimes you can get a little gun shy when you're running bad – if you're running big bluffs and everyone always has the nuts, or vice versa if you're making calls and you're just running into it all the time. Sometimes it can kind of mess with your head a little bit and make you second guess yourself. When everything is working out and things are going well and you're making big hands and the bluffs are getting through, it just helps you play better. It's as simple as that."
