Complaints about the 2023 WSOP Main Event payout structure have been littered throughout social media postings, chief among them the marketing ploy of adding $100K to the top prize to break the previous record of $12 million.

The fact that making the final table in 9th place won't even land a $1 million payday was irksome to some players as well. Whether 10% or 12% or 15% of the field should get paid was another issue that was contentious among the poker-playing masses who took to Twitter to air their opinions and complaints.

Let's add another complaint to the list, this one coming from Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, who expressed his displeasure with the ability to register for the ME on Day 2:

That tweet found arguments on both sides of the ledger. Backers of Matusow feel that allowing late regs the ability to forego the inevitable grind of Day 1 isn't fair. The thinking is that a prestigious event such as the Main Event should put everybody on equal footing.

Those who disagree with The Mouth are of the mind that entering with 60 big blinds among the survivors of Day 1 isn't advantageous at all. Matusow was told by several of his followers that if Day 2 entry provides an edge over the competition, that he should do it.

It's worth noting that Mike has been voicing his distaste for Day 2 late reg for some time now. Here's a tweet from almost two years ago:

Whatever your opinion happens to be on the issue, there's no denying the fact that Day 2 late reg added several million dollars more to the prize pool. Whether it's dead money or not, every player knows the risks/rewards going in.

As a 2023 Poker Hall of Fame nominee, perhaps Matusow should have examined the risks/rewards of blasting the WSOP before posting his late reg opinions on Twitter. Ironically, it was another chronic complainer who pointed that out to Mike:

Chainsaw's words of wisdom didn't fall on deaf ears. The Mouth did show some grace by amending his previous tweet and clarifying his late reg opinion with regard to the Main Event.

Will it be enough for the four-time bracelet winner to make it into the HOF? Or will his possible induction come at another time .... in other words, late?
