Michael Prendergast has won the WSOP Event #24: $600 Pot-Limit Omaha Deepstack for $127,428.

After two days of action, the American topped a field of 1,572 entries and took home the six-figure prize that was only his ninth live tournament cash. He still doesn’t have a five-figure prize on his record and only one of four-figures.

Unexpected

After battling hard for two days, Michael Prendergast landed at a final table with barely any chips remaining. It wasn’t looking like a great situation, but, hey, a chip and a chair, and all that.

A triple up soon after play started changed the likely outcome drastically. Prendergast was back in business.

The event came to a conclusion when Prendergast called it off with a worse flush draw and Jeffrey Barnes having a pair of eights to boot. The poker gods saw it differently, though, and fired a pair of aces in Prendergast’s direction on the river and it was all over.
