ShareThis last week of August sees the 2021 Super High Roller Bowl Europe played at the Merit Royal Hotel & Casino, Cyprus. Many of the world’s top poker stars made the trip to the sunny Mediterranean where events were laid on with traditionally insane buy-ins.
We’re talking a minimum of $25,000 with the main event costing $250,000 to enter.
As a bit of extra fun, there was also a massive cash game laid on with stakes of $500/$1,000 where a few of the big hitters got together, including the mercurial Jungleman.

Dan Cates turned up fashionably late wearing a bizarre silk gown type of outfit and proceeded to play with a massage girl getting busy behind him. To be honest, as insane as the stakes were, the game was a bit of a damp squib.
There was little action to be seen in the manner of what TV poker usually gives the audience. Maybe what Tom Dwan told us the other week about players getting around $10,000 per day to play on High Stakes Poker is what’s needed to force the players to be more active.
Even the great cash game talents of Limitless and Trueteller couldn’t drive up the excitement level here.
