First up is PokerGO’s “The Rich Get Richer” cash game on February 17th, which sees a pro vs amateur line-up of Patrik Antonius, MJ Gonzalez, Andrew Robl, Eric Persson, Rob Yong and Rick Salomon.
That’s at least $6million on the table and it’s likely to be much more by the time the action really gets going, the escalating blinds a sure-fire way to ensure fireworks.
Meanwhile, the Hustler Casino Live team have plans for their own $1million min. buy-in cash game, expected to run in May and hoping to include Alan Keating and Eric Persson.
Adelstein’s return?
However, it may also herald the return of Garrett Adelstein to the popular livestream, scene of his infamous cheating accusations against Robbi Jade Lew last year.“Might be down if there’s a seat,” tweeted Adelstein, sparking a series of for and against replies, many calling for him to apologise and repay Lew before being allowed to play.
Potentially throwing his hat in the ring had Dan Smith interested in playing, with Jason Koon also showing his interest.
HCL producer Andrew Feldman has set a goal for the $1million per head show, stating: “Our goal is to get more views than the MrBeast game.”
That record-setting livestream saw 37,000 concurrent viewers and pitted the likes of Phil Hellmuth and Tom Dwan against a slew of famous streamers, with YouTubers Mr Beast and Ludwig, as well as chess favourite Alexandra Botez at the table, making for an incredible show.
Feldman told PokerNews this week: “We have enough of our local players that we'll be able to pull this off. We're going to shoot for the stars.”
He added of Alex Keating’s possible involvement: “Keating is a superstar and we want him to be on every one of the biggest shows that we put together. And we are confident that we will have him in this game.”
The game itself – in fact two games if Feldman gets his way – is expected to have blinds of $500/$1000, with the blinds rising as in the PokerGO version and straddles to be expected.
That’s 5x the stakes that the ‘streamer game’ above was played at, which saw Keating lose more than $1.1million, Hellmuth drop close to $100k, and Botez, Mr Beast and Ludwig all win more than $400k.
Biggest Live Cash Game Pots in History
It’s almost guaranteed that, somewhere among the HCL/PokerGO $1million min. buy-in games, the livestreamed ‘biggest pot ever’ in the US will be broken. At the moment, that record stands with Alex Keating...
...and there’s a decent chance that the all-time record of $2.353million, a pot won by Paul Phua against Tom Dwan at the triton stop in Jeju back in 2018, is in danger of being topped.
