Eli Elezra bagged event #3 of the PGT Mixed Game Series, taking the $155,000 first prize after a heads-up deal with Yuval Bronshtein in the $10k Triple Stud Mix tournament.
Elezra, an old-school legend of the Vegas highstakes cash games, and with 5 WSOP tournaments bracelets to his name, was among 60 entries for the mix of 7-card Stud Hi, 7-card Stud Hi-Lo, and Razz.
With nine spots paid, the players who made the cash included Jennifer Harman making her PokerGO Studio debut at the Aria, and John Monnette, who finished 4th and still had a heads-up battle to look forward to.
Monnette’s event 2 deep run in the $10k 8-Game Mix, leading to a heads-up showdown with Albert Daher, was put on hold as he attempted an unlikely double. Those hopes were dashed when he fell to Bronshtein, his aces losing out to sixes full of queens.
Bronshtein, a double WSOP bracelet winner, also accounted for 3rd placed Dan Zack, leaving him to battle Elezra for top prize and the trophy.
Agreeing a deal that saw Elezra lock up $135,000 and Bronshtein $145,000, the pair left $20,000 on the table to play for. That went Elezra’s way when a couple of full houses saw him overturn his opponent’s chip lead, the 62-year-old Israeli-born pro finishing things off quickly thereafter.
