Daniel Negreanu had a very successful late night, taking down event 2 of the Wynn Millions High Roller series, pocketing $216,000 and securing crucial points towards the PokerGO tour leaderboard...
Back to my winning ways and it feels good! 3am finish with all the chips in the $15k for $216,000 and 216 points towards the PGT leaderboard.

I’ll be in the Wynn Millions tomorrow after a late reg! Weee pic.twitter.com/ZDjmL31rep
The $15k buy-in tournament, one of five this week being held at the Wynn Las Vegas, saw 24 players account for 40 entries, with only six making it to the money.
Among those missing out were Dan Smith, event 1 winner Jake Schindler, Erik Seidel, Alex Foxen and Sergio Aido. The latter bust out on the money bubble, which Daniel Negreanu described on Twitter as “an absurd bubble 7-handed with 3 guys under 3 big blinds”.
The first casualty in the paid spots was Bosnian Ali Imsriovic, getting his short stack in good against Negreanu and favourite to double-up, but the flop had other ideas...
Imsirovic: K♥ K♦
Negreanu: A♣ Kâ™
Flop: A♥ 8♦ 10♦
Turn: 3â™
River: 6♥
No case king or running diamonds meant that Imsirovic had to content himself with 6th spot and $30,000, and he would soon be joined by Sean Winter, who ran his own dwindling stack into Sergei Reixach’s pocket rockets.
Winter: Q♦ 5â™
Reixach: A♠A♣
Flop: 4♥ 10♦ 7♥
Turn: 2♦
River: 9â™
Ren Lin and Brock Wilson then clashed, with the latter having to trust his remaining chips to good fortune, which didn’t happen as Lin’s pocket sevens held up to send Wilson out in 4th place for a $66,000 payday.
Lin has been around the poker scene for a few years, but only really made a name for himself recently. His first 6-figure score came at last year’s WSOP but he has followed that up with several more, taking down an Aria High Roller and then finishing second in the WSOP $50k Poker Player’s Championship.
That runner-up finish to Mikita Badziakouski, and ahead of 3rd-placed Daniel Negreanu, was worth $908,000, more than doubling Lin’s career earnings in one fell swoop.
It would only be 3rd spot for Lin late last night, though, as he ran into a dominant Negreanu
Lin: A♦ 6♦
Negreanu: 9♥ 9♦
Flop: 2♣ 8♦ 8♥
Turn: J♥
River: 2♦
A long day at the table saw Negreanu and Reixach battle for the title and a share of $360,000, the difference a cool $72k.
Reixach fought back once, but when DNegs’ stretched his lead out once again it would prove fatal, the final hand seeing Daniel hit the card he needed in the window.
Negreanu: 9♥ 8â™
Reixach: 4♣ 4♥
Flop: 9♣ 2♠3♥
Turn: 5♦
River: K♥
Top spot and $216,000 for Negreanu, with Reixach earning a healthy $144,000 for his late-night, runner-up finish.
Final results
1 | Daniel Negreanu | $216,000 |
2 | Sergei Reixach | $144,000 |
3 | Ren Lin | $96,000 |
4 | Brock Wilson | $66,000 |
5 | Sean Winter | $48,000 |
6 | Ali Imsirovic | $30,000 |
Event 3, a $10k NLHE tournament, kicks off this coming Sunday, and that will be followed by another $15k and then a $10k to finish off the Wynn Millions Series.
The overall PokerGO Tour (PGT) leaderboard still sees Nick Petrangelo out front, ahead of Sean Perry and Ali Imsirovic, while Daniel Negreanu’s win brings him within a couple of points of Alex Foxen in 6th spot.
We’ll be back again tomorrow with all the best of the action from the Vegas highrollers and much more besides, so be sure to check in!
