Bryn Kenney has won the $250,000 Triton Poker NL Hold’em Luxon Invitational for $6,860,000, retaking the top spot on the all-time money winners list. He defeated hedge fund manager Tal Shakerchi heads-up to collect the biggest share of the massive $29,500,000 prize pool.
A total of 118 players arrived at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House to do battle against a field that was stacked with top talent. Yes, there were plenty of rich and successful VIPs mixed in the field but one glance at that roster would be enough to terrify most capable players.
Bryn Kenney also walked away with the biggest chunk of the prize pool the last time Triton was in London to host the £1 million buy-in charity event, although he lost the playoff to China’s Aaron Zang. This time, though, he will have a trophy to go with his memories and fat cheque.
"That was the biggest tournament that Triton ran of all time, the one in London four years ago that I got second place in, didn't get to hold up the trophy but got the most money. This one, I'm pretty sure the second biggest tournament that Triton's ever held and holding up the trophy, I've got to say, it's pretty unreal."
Although any player who gets a result in a field such as this one deserves some plaudits, we did think that Chris Moneymaker really does deserve a shout out for coming home in 5th place on the 20th anniversary of his famous victory that set all of this poker craze off to begin with.
