Bradley Ruben has picked up his third WSOP gold bracelet after winning Event #42: $1,500 Razz for $99,188. The American came out on top in a tournament which attracted 311 entries, building a prize pool of $415,185.
First Live WSOP Win
Bradley Ruben is on quite a roll. With most of the world living under lockdown conditions during last year, he dedicated himself to improving his game and picked up his first WSOP bracelet in the WSOP Online on GGPoker.A year later and he’d won his second, also online, but now, incredibly, he’s gone and won his third, this time at the Rio Convention Center, where bracelets should be won. Three is even more than what Fedor Holz and Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy have to their names, and only 115 people in history have won three or more.
Ruben’s surge to victory wasn’t a smooth one. On the final day he was staring down at a short stack for most of the time.
But then it all came together.
“I think I had like 300K in chips, and I just ran like God pretty much from then on, doubled up a couple of times, so it’s really just running good at the end.”
Charles Sinn was Ruben’s heads-up opponent. Noted for his aggressive playing style, Sinn was the chip leader for a long time, but when Ruben stole the advantage from him it was all over relatively quickly.
Speaking after his victory, Ruben said: “I’ve always had the motivation, like after winning the first one, I wanted to win a second one to legitimize it, and then I’m like all right, I’ve gotta win a third one, and I need to win my first live one, so I always had that motivation, and I’ll keep finding ways to motivate myself. I haven’t won a Hold’em one, so that’s next."
