Ankit Ahuja has taken down the Eureka Main Event at the EPT Cyprus. The Indian pro lined up against 2,658 opponents at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa in what was the third largest edition ever with a prize pool of $2,552,640.

For his efforts, Ahuja added a career best score of $362,365 to his total, taking him past the $2 million mark.

Speaking to PokerNews after wrapping up the victory, Ahuja said:

"It was tough, but that's bound to happen in any tournament. These were hands where I couldn't have done anything, so I didn't make any mistakes. I was just okay with it. And still, I was glad that I had so many chips that even after I lost those hands, I still had 100 bigs after that.

"I think this is the best win. I mean, every win is very special ... You know, the more you know, you get better, you learn things. So I felt like this was just special. I didn't have a lot of the big trophies of the PokerStars [tournaments]. And deep in Barcelona, but couldn't get it done.

"It used to be a dream when I was learning to play poker or coming up even when I was working with Stars. So yeah, it's a dream come true."

Paulius Plausinaitis Wins $25K NL Hold’em Event at EPT Cyprus

Paulius Plausinaitis won the latest $25k NL Hold’em event at the EPT Cyprus. Only 29 runners arrived to play, creating a prize pool of $696,290, but the Lithuanian would have been more than happy to bank $264,690 for his victory.

Artur Martirosian was the man who pushed Plausinaitis the hardest, out of nine players who sat to play at the final table, all with relatively similar stack sizes.

The Russian had a commanding chip lead by the time heads-up play began, but a rivered flush evened the stacks out and then Plausinaitis didn’t look back until he’d wrapped up the event.
