ACR pro and ambassador Jeff Boski’s love of the game goes all the way back to the pre-Black Friday days, and that makes him a veteran of the game despite his youthful looks!
Jeff took time out from his busy playing and vlogging schedule to answer a few of our questions, so if you want to know why Phil Hellmuth and the Hendon Mob get the thumbs down, but Chris Moneymaker gets the thumbs up, read on!
Q: How did you become a poker pro?
I quit my job and dropped out of college when I was 22. I went all in on Texas holdem tournaments, mainly online.
Q: How did you end up as an ACR sponsored pro?
ACR knew about my YouTube channel and we came to a mutually beneficial agreement 3 and a half years ago.
Q: What are the best and worst things about being a poker pro?
The best is the freedom that comes with being your own boss. With this comes much greater responsibility. There is a lot of pressure on yourself to succeed. The worst are the downswings which hurt both financially and mentally.
Q: You can play online from any country in the world…which one do you choose?
I am happy to play from the USA.
Q: Which players do you look up to/rate highly among modern-day pros?
I respect players that work hard at their game and behave with ethics and professionalism.
Q: Who do you want to beat heads-up for the ACR Venom crown?
Chris Moneymaker, he is due for a runner up finish.
Q: The most useful tip for any aspiring poker pro is…?
Use good bankroll management and never stop improving.
Q: You have to choose an ACR team-mate to take on the world (at anything)…who gets the buddy role?
I would choose Chris Moneymaker to help me put an end to Amish puppy mills and promote #AdoptDontShop. He is actively raising money for the Tunica Humane Society and I support Adopt a Boxer Rescue.
Q: Biggest achievement, biggest failure and biggest goal?
I bowled a 300 game in a cosmic bowling league when I was 20 years old.
I bowled a 299 October 30th 2020.
I want to bowl a 300 again and get the official PBA ring.
Q: Describe what the game of poker means to you in three words…
Risk, Reward, Results
Q: What would your life be like without poker in it?
It would probably be less stressful but more boring.
Q: You are affiliated with RYE. How much work do you put in using ‘GTO’ training tools?
I study as much as possible. Time is money but learning how to do things better can make you money.
Q: What is the worst piece of poker advice you ever listened to?
Any poker strategy advice from Phil Hellmuth.
Q: Your Hendon Mob is heading towards $1million in live tournament career winnings. Do you pay attention to such things?
Hendon Mobs don't mean much. Profit is what matters at the end of the day. Online tracking sites like Sharkscope hold much more weight.
Q: Where is the strangest place you’ve been recognised for your poker?
The 2020 AVN porn expo in Las Vegas.
The man who goes by the name TheBoski at the ACR tables is also available for coaching, so if your game needs fine-tuned you know who to call!
