The biggest guarantee in live poker tournament history is only weeks away, the upcoming 2022 WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas featuring a staggering $15million guaranteed prize pool!

The $10k buy-in Main Event is the flagship tournament of the season-ending, multi-tournament festival and will see players converge on the Wynn Casino for the first time for a WPT event.

“This is one of the most ambitious initiatives the World Poker Tour has undertaken in our 20-year history,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska in a press release earlier this year.

Pliska added: “We expect this to be a highly anticipated festival and are elated to be partnering with Wynn Las Vegas to bring this concept to life.”

With at least $15million to be shared out among the prizewinners, getting their name inscribed on the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup will be an added bonus for the eventual winner.

Sexton, who passed away in the fall of 2020, was a commentator who did more than most to promote the WPT, working alongside Vince Patten to bring 15 seasons of WPT televised poker to life.

The WPT Champions Cup was renamed to include Sexton shortly after his death, ensuring Mike himself remains an iconic part of the WPT brand.

Kicking off on December 1st, the inaugural WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas series features 23 events in just 20 days, with $22 million in total guaranteed prize money.

Buy-ins ranging from $600 to $25k should ensure a monster turnout at the Wynn, with variants on offer ranging from H.O.R.S.E. and Omaha eight-or-better, to eight-game mix, Pot-limit Omaha and the No-Limit Hold’em of the World Championship Main Event.

Among the most eagerly-anticipated tournaments is the $2 million guaranteed $1,600 buy-in Wynn Mystery Bounty, which sees players who have taken bounties draw for cash prizes after busting out.

Scores of players have already secured their seats to various events online, with at least 200 online qualifiers expected in the flagship Main Event itself, via ClubWPT.

Meanwhile, the Wynn itself is looking forward to hosting the WPT for the first time.

Ryan Beauregard, Executive Director of Poker Operations at Wynn Las Vegas stated: “In partnership with WPT, we have created a festival that will be a one-of-a-kind, must-attend event for both our current and new players.”

He added: “We offer our guests the biggest and best poker experiences available, coupled with the world-class service and amenities that can only be found at Wynn Las Vegas.”

The WPT are also eagerly-anticipating their new, and latest series finale in the 20-year history of the tour.

“We are absolutely thrilled with our multi-year partnership with Wynn Las Vegas,” said Angelica Hael, Vice President of Global Tour Management at World Poker Tour.

Hael added: “Alongside the WPT Prime Championship and various off-the-felt activities planned, the WPT World Championship festival puts a historic exclamation point on World Poker Tour Season 20.”
