Ryan Depaulo has thrown some shade at Doug Polk over excessive rake in a regular event at The Lodge poker room.
In a recent tweet, he reminded everyone just how much he went after Daniel Negreanu for his “more rake is better” comment, and now it turns out that Polk part-owns a club that possibly charges the most rake in a poker tournament in the United States.
After all the rake sizzle takes @DougPolkVids did over the years, he now owns part of a club that runs a monthly $500+$100 lol

Let’s not be too hard on Polk because he points out that the structure was like this before he even bought into The Lodge. The cash games in The Lodge are also the cheapest in the country.
“Also this tournament was planned by our team before I had even entered, and it's been a hit. 3 straight months covering a 500k monthly guarantee. It's one of the best $600 live mtts and it's every month at the lodge.”
The fee in the monthly tournament is a bit high. That said we have the cheapest cash games in the country and that tournament is still incredible value. We pay our dealers well here too.

Regardless, my take was rake increases can't be good for players, not for the lowest rake.
The tournament in question is the monthly $500 +$100 which has proven extremely popular and covered the $500k guarantee three months in a row. Last time out, the 60-table room was filled up with no more space for others who were interested in playing.
If a business gets a result like this it’s tough to argue that it’s in its interest to change anything. From the point of the club, why would they care if the regs started moaning about too much rake when the recreational players clearly love what’s on offer.
Running a business is never easy but Doug Polk must be wondering if all the sniping will ever stop. After having a terrible time with lady luck every time he sat down to play at The Lodge, he finally went on the rampage last weekend, stacking players left and right.
All anybody could say to him at that point was to point out that he’s the owner of the club, even though he’s still sitting $190k in the hole.
Also brought my total lodge earnings up to an impressive -190k. Look at me go!!
