When Phil Hellmuth rolled into town last weekend, the fans were hoping he would be heading down to the Strip to finally kick off his $400k prop bet. The “Poker Brat” got 2-1 from Daniel Negreanu that he could profit from fifty $25,000 high roller tournaments at the Aria Casino.
Better Things to Do?
What better way could there have been to kick off this prop bet than by playing in both of the $25k PokerGO Cup events. For whatever reason, Hellmuth decided against it and treated himself to a night on the tiles instead. After watching Conor McGregor’s freak injury at the UFC, it was over to join Steve Aoki in the DJ booth.
So is Hellmuth making sure he’s in tip top form at the tables before he embarks on what is actually a tough bet?
These events are filled with seasoned veterans of the tournament scene, and this time in particular is tough because live poker in the US is popping right now. All the decent live pros have been heading out to get their first action in more than a year.
When Hellmuth is ready he’ll get going, for sure, and we’re looking forward to seeing how he gets on with this bet.
