ShareMike Gorodinsky recently won his third WSOP bracelet in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship for a whopping $422,747 in prize money.
You can bet your bottom dollar that Gordo won't be stashing his winnings in the safe deposit box at the Bellagio. As it turns out, that box designed for safekeeping money and valuables isn't so safe after all.
Gorodinsky posted on Twitter on June 1 that the contents of his box were mysteriously missing:
Gordo's request for assistance on how to rectify the situation and get his money back was met with a bunch of ideas from his followers. Many of the replies urged him to call the cops and a lawyer post haste.
It was also pointed out that casinos have cameras all over the place and solving the problem would likely require a look at recent video footage. Or, perhaps the wrong box was in his numbered slot.
Gordo apparently took all of the comments and suggestions received under advisement, making sure to thank his followers for doing so:
Those same followers were clamoring for updates on the matter and for a few weeks, none were forthcoming. Gordo was busy grinding the WSOP tables, cashing six times - including a 7th place finish in the $10K Mixed Games event for $42,965 - before binking the $10K H.O.R.S.E. tourney for $422K.
Gorodinsky finally provided an update to PokerNews reporters following his victory.
“I’m still kind of waiting for quote-unquote ‘official’ word, but basically they ran a security process and according to them I’m the only person to access it," he stated. "So compensation at this point is looking unlikely, but I’m hoping to have further conversations with some execs at MGM.”
That certainly doesn't sound encouraging at all. It doesn't bode well for other players who regularly use casino safe deposit boxes. Isn't the Bellagio liable for keeping the boxes safe?
