Eric Persson has issued a challenge to Matt Berkey for a heads-up grudge match with a $1,000,000 buy-in. However, as Berkey is already tied up in a battle against Nik Airball, Doug Polk has taken the opportunity to step in and steal the action for himself!
Persson, the CEO of Maverick Gaming, was prompted to issue the challenge after taking issue with some recent table talk involving Berkey, Airball’s coach Eshaan “Brown Balla” Bhalla, and Persson’s old arch-rival, Phil Hellmuth. The conversation was about the recent $1,000,000 buy-in cash game "Cash of the Titans," where Persson lost a massive $1,978,000 pot to Patrik Antonius, and he wasn’t impressed with what he heard.
Berkey, however, seems hesitant to accept Persson’s challenge, saying that he is not willing to put $1 million of his own money on the line. Polk quickly jumped in to accept the challenge but it remains to be seen whether Persson will accept.
“To be completely clear, I am not going to play a heads-up match where I have $1million of my own action in play. It’s just too much of my net worth. If I had $5million, then okay, I would consider it, but I don’t have $5million.”
