Six months ago, Ebony Kenney was on the poker trip of a lifetime, scooping $1.7million against some of the worldâs best super high roller tournament players. Now fans can enjoy the ACR proâs wild ride with the release of a documentary charting Kenneyâs incredible run!
In High Stakes: A Woman's Seat in a $200,000 Poker Tournament, we get the full behind-the-scenes treatment starting from the moment Kenney got her call-up to one of the most exclusive poker tournaments ever.
âMy boss, the CEO of Americas CardRoom, Phil Nagy, called me and said: âHey, Iâve got something for you,â and letâs me know, âHey, thereâs a $200,000 invite only tournament...Iâm going and Iâm gonna take you, youâre my pro!â
That tournament was the $200k buy-in Coin Rivet Invitational, held in Cyprus as part of the Triton SHR series, and Kenney had a total of $500k worth of buy-ins to enjoy â a huge jump for a pro who still gets goosebumps from playing $10ks.
The fly-on-the-wall style documentary shows us Kenney meeting Nagy for the first time in person, bumping into the likes of Rob Yong, and Zoom calls with her poker coach, Chance Kornuth.
âI am not a GTO players, as the cool kids call it,â reveals Kenney, expressing love for Kornuthâs ability to coach her strengths and weaknesses.
Split into three easily-digestible 20-minute videos, High Stakes: A Woman's Seat in a $200,000 Poker Tournament has all the drama youâd expect from such a remarkable event.
Laughter, tears, painful flops, beautiful turns, unexpected rivers, and not a little twerking thrown in for good measure â we follow Kenney as she not only plays her first $25k, but finishes 5th for $240,000.
Her first 6-figure score and enough to pay her own way in the monster Coin Rivet Invitational to follow, battling Stephen Chidwick is next up in the âcanât believe Iâm doing thisâ journey.
There was more to come, of course, and the unusual nature of the $200k event plunged Kenney in with all the other pros, while the businessman/amateurs battled each other on day one.
For Kenney, that meant vying with stars of the game such as Ben Tollerene, David Peters, Fedor Holz and Jason Koon, and it was the latter who gave Ebony her next âWTF?â moment.
âOn dinner break...as Iâm getting off the elevator Jason Koon is walking by and he immediately makes a bee-line to me.â
âAnd he says: âAlright, Ebony, listen...youâre approaching the money bubble, do this, do this, donât do this, stop doing this, youâre doing great, weâre all rooting for you.â
âThen he just walks away and Iâm like...wtf?...thank you so much!â
What came next was the biggest moment of Ebony Kenneyâs poker career, just a hairâs breadth away from breaking an all-time womenâs poker record, and an achievement that vaulted her into a new realm.
