Over the last couple of years, ACR Team Pro Ebony Kenney has risen through the ranks to become one of the most influential and inspiring female players on the scene. Last year, her amazing run in the Triton Super High Roller Series in Northern Cyprus for a $1.7 million score, proved that she is a threat in any poker tournament she enters.
This rise has seen Kenney become a huge inspiration to the next generation of female players looking to make their mark in the world of poker.
“It’s an honor to be called an inspiration in any capacity, but especially in the field that is my career. This industry is filled with such talented and powerful women. My inspirations include the women who paved the way for me to be here, like Cyndy Violette, Jen Harman, Maria Ho, and Vanessa Selbst.”
As well as from her friends, Ebony gets a lot of drive and motivation from her children, Wendy and Cade. She says that being a parent is not easy and that she has made "countless" mistakes, but owning her mistakes is what has driven her to improve in all areas of her life.
Ebony also believes that women tend to be too hard on themselves and beat themselves up when things don't go perfectly. She advises women to accept their mistakes and use them as opportunities for growth.
Strength and Resilience
Ebony's poker journey has not been without its challenges. She has faced negative publicity and criticism in the past, but she has always shown strength and resilience in the face of adversity. Her personal life has also been difficult at times, with her son nearly losing his life on several occasions.Ebony's journey since then is explored in a riveting documentary from ACR entitled "High Stakes: A Woman’s Seat in a $200,000 Poker Tournament," with Parts one and two already available for viewers on YouTube.
Despite the challenges she has faced, Ebony remains positive and upbeat, always striving to improve her game and inspire others to do the same. She acknowledges that her emotional heart is who she is and that wearing her heart on her sleeve is something she will never stop doing. Her success in the game has earned her the respect and admiration of many, and she hopes to inspire more women to pursue their dreams and make their mark in the world of poker.
