Doug Polk has issued a $100,000 heads-up challenge to the world, inviting all-comers down to the Lodge Poker Club to play $200/$400 against him. The American tweeted the offer and added a segment to his latest video below where he explains exactly what’s on offer.
“I’m issuing a $100,000 buy-in heads-up challenge to the world. Anyone can take it. Come on down to the Lodge, $100K buy-in, 200/400 blinds, bring a couple of bullets. We’re going to duke it out on the felt for a full weekend.
“If anyone, and I mean anyone, wants to play heads-up, I will accept your challenge.”
Who Will Step Up?So, who is likely to step up and face one of the best in the deepstack heads-up format in the last decade? No big names have put their names forward just yet but surely someone will fancy a bit of self-promotion, even for the sake of trying to come across as an interesting player that is suitable for some of the other popular livestream shows around right now.
Polk invited his followers to reply to his tweet and video with their favourite suggestions and he will no doubt do his best to get the best possible candidates up to Austin for a weekend of high stakes.
Polk recently revealed during his podcast with Nik Airball that he challenged Daniel Negreanu a couple of years ago in the “safe” knowledge that the Canadian would never accept and he would never have to go through the torture of weeks on end in the lab.
Now, though, it seems that Polk is relishing the challenge once again and it will be a great piece of promotion for the Lodge Poker Club if the right opponents can be found.
“Trying to take a step back and appreciate life right now If you had told 23 yo me that 1 day I would get to play $100,000 HUNL matches streamed online at my own card room I probably would have broken down w/ tears of joy This is the most excited I've been to play in a long time”
Dan “Jungleman” Cates was quick to post that they have already done this and enquired if there was any incentive for him to return.
