Renowned for its vibrant nightlife, world-class entertainment, and,of course, iconic casinos. Each year, millions of visitors flock to Sin City from all around the globe to experience its unique blend of luxury and thrills.
With all of its high-end restaurants, extravagant casino hotels, premium entertainment options, and even the World Poker Tour, Las Vegas isn’t particularly seen as the ideal place for the budget-savvy traveler. Or is it? That’s the question that we look to answer in this article.
Accommodation Hacks
If you want to experience the very height of luxurious accommodation and world-class customer service, then don’t go to Las Vegas. If you’re looking for that, spend some money on a high-end hotel in the Caribbean, not Sin City.
Sin City is somewhere full of world-class resorts and hotels; however, if you are looking to visit on a budget, it would be worth noting that you will not be in your hotel room much other than to sleep, bathe, and change. Las Vegas has something to do at all hours of the day, so you won’t be short on activities to be busy with. So, save yourself a fortune and either go on Airbnb, where you can find whole homes to rent, or go for the cheap option of a hostel.
For as little as $25 a night, you can get a bunk in a clean, friendly, and accommodating hostel just a short walk from the Las Vegas strip. Or you can push the boat out and spend about $40 to get a private room in a hostel.
To us, a hostel makes complete and total sense, especially when you consider that you’re going to be spending an estimated 95% of your waking hours outside of your accommodation and exploring the city.
Practicing Casino Games
There is no way that you can visit Las Vegas without visiting one of its many casinos. If you are on a budget, however, you may want to limit your experiences and utilize online bonus codes instead to save some extra money. You can check out the latest bonus codes available online to make your practice that much more affordable. The problem with gambling, though, is that you can lose money pretty quickly if you don’t know what you’re doing, so getting that extra bit of practice can make what you do spend go even further.
Let’s face it: Not trying at least one of the casinos Las Vegas has to offer would be like backpacking Asia and not bumping into an Australian playing the guitar or visiting the leaning tower of Pisa without taking THAT picture.

Throughout Las Vegas, there are endless options of places to eat. If you are on a budget, it would be best to stay away from the high-class boojie restaurants. That does not mean you have to stick to self-catering unless your budget is extremely strict.
There are restaurants all across Las Vegas that are affordable, from Loco Bueno Tacosto Denny’s to Pisa Pizza. The options are endless for incredible food experiences without breaking the bank. It may be in your best interest to plan your meals and restaurant visits in advance to know that you are getting the best food within your budget.
Cheaper(er) Entertainment
Typically when you read guides like these you will be advised to forego the paid experiences with free ones, which is all well and good when you’re in a European city. If you’re in Berlin, for example, you can tour the wall for free, visit the Brandenburg gate without spending a penny, and explore Checkpoint Charlie, again for free.
In Vegas, though the majority of experiences worth having will cost money, so it’s important to prioritize what you want to see and book them in advance when prices are cheaper. A couple of must-see low-cost/free options though are watching the Bellagio fountains show and witnessing the amazing Fremont Street Experience.
Getting Around for Less
Transportation in Las Vegas can be quite expensive. Our tip, counterintuitively, would be to rent a car. That way you can explore not just the city itself but wider Nevada at your own leisure, and in a country where gas prices are incredibly low in comparison to other places in the world.
Public transport is of course an option, but in comparison to cities outside of the US the links are pretty poor, and the price is rather high.
