There’s a new face on the Americas CardRoom pro roster and it’s none other than Jose Ignacio Barbero – the US-facing site unveiling their latest signing this week as the popular Argentinian pro better known as “Nacho” joined the ACR ranks...
“Nacho” sprung to prominence this year when he bagged a $1.5million payday for finishing 4th in the PSPC, quickly following it up with another $1.5million including wins on the Triton and PokerGO Tours.
However, the talented pro – who will play on ACR under the nickname “Travisrice” – has been around much longer, with 15 years of success at the tables after transitioning from Magic: the Gathering, where he competed for his national team.
Nicknames come easily to the Buenos Aires man, Nacho becoming the first player to win two consecutive Latin American Poker Tour championships, earning him the tag “Back-to-Back Barbero”.
Last year saw him pick up his first WSOP bracelet, bagging the jewellery and $587,520 in the $7k buy-in NLH Super Turbo Bounty, and then went on the sun-run that took him from the Bahamas to Vietnam and Las Vegas.
Barbero joins a stacked ACR roster that includes 2003 WSOP Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker, married crusher couple Chris Moorman and Katie Lindsay, and the irrepressible Ebony Kenney.
You’ll also find him playing with and against site stalwarts such as Jeff Boski, Ana Marquez, Monica Zukowicz, Robert Kuhn, Michael Loncar, Jon van Fleet, Ryan Depaulo, Jon Pardy and Drew Gonzalez, as ACR continue to build their hugely popular squad.
